Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko Weekly Update – Episode 2

You wished for it Youta!

TheGood

In his attempt to gain his lost facade, Yokodera Youto continues being Azuki Azusa’s pet dog as presented in his short skit. That skit alone is very funny and sets up the lively atmosphere. However, Hennek isn’t all about having fun and being cute. Er- Okay, there are a LOT of cute scenes in this episode but we’re also getting the drama early from this show.

Anyway, without making any progress, he asks Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko for advice and invites her to eat in an animal cafe in the neighbouring town. This made Tsukiko happy (It’s pretty much obvious) but she comes to realize that Youto’s only gunning for the maids in the cafe.

azusa

This episode gives Azusa some depths as a character. We know her from the previous episode as the pompous Oujou-sama who looks down on others and girl who relies on Youto’s lost facade. Youto and Tsukiko coincidentally discover her job as a maid in the animal cafe. This gives Youto a chance to reverse their Master-Dog relationship, much to Azusa’s disgrace. She still keeps her demeanor even though she’s crying from embarrassment, which is pretty much hilarious, and Tsukiko’s reactions hint that she’s jealous. It is later discovered that she’s just pretending to be a rich kid (as Youto assumed) who actually lives alone in a normal apartment and is working hard in different jobs to support her appearance. We still don’t know her motivations for acting like this so we better stick around for the next few episodes.

tsukiko, youta and azusa

For her to know that a commoner’s life is not that bad, Youto invites her to a date. However, his itinerary turns out to be a failure. Now, it’s obvious that Youto doesn’t know how to handle girls. Tsukiko, who’s been following them, steps in much Azusa chagrin. They start blurting out things about how well they know Youto’s perversion. Seems like both girls are now gunning for our Hentai Prince! Lucky!

Tsukiko suggests that they should all go together in the commoner’s place for entertainment – the arcade.  This is where the three’s friendship starts to develop but is immediately crushed when Youto mentions that both girls are becoming “friends” or “sister-like”. This sets both Azusa and Tsukiko off.

We also learn a little about Tsukiko background. Her parent’s died when she was little and she doesn’t have a brother. That’s why she’s not that good at handling guys. Seems like that’s not the case with Youto. She’s thankful to the Stone Statue for her emotionless face for that. Apparently, the Track and Field Captain turns out to be her sister and I have a feeling that she has a problem with her. When they meet her in the arcade, they run and leave Azusa behind.

tsukiko and youta

This will be problem in the future so I’ll write it here. I believe that Tsukiko has already developed romantic feelings towards Youto. Well, we can’t really determine what she’s feeling with that deadpan face but it’s quite obvious with her words and actions. The problem is, how will Youto realize her feelings? He’s our cliched oblivious main character, despite being a pervert. Now that Tsukiko can’t express her feeling at all, it will be more difficult for him to be aware of it. Also, I don’t think that Tsukiko is aware of her own feelings. Let’s see how this two deal with it…. in the future.

ugly

azussa

Okay, those girls who confronted and bullied Azusa in the arcade are the ugly. Despite being good-looking girls, their attitudes suck. This is where we learned a little about Azusa’s friendship issues. It seems like she has had bad experiences in her previous school, a place where she has no friends. That’s why when Youto and Tsukiko came back, she asked them not to talk to her anymore because they’re not friends and it’s foolish to think that that’s the case. Just when their friendship was starting to build up.. oh well.

This was a good episode. The switch from comedy to drama was done pretty well. I’m looking forward on how Youto will help Azusa and Tsukiko with their issues. We can expect more drama next week and I hope this show will handle it well.
