A sister’s love knows no boundaries (?)
This episode started off on a serious not but it’s not too long before the hilarity breaks out. Like Maou-sama, Henneko did a really good job in incorporating humour in the supposedly dramatic moments of this episode.
Last week, Tsukiko claims that she’s not on good terms with her sister because Tsukushi hates her. She believes that her childishness is the reason for this. Ever since their parents died, she clung too much to her sister and became too dependent on her. After she graduated from Junior High, Tsukushi has been avoiding her. In order for them to be on good terms again, she wished to the cat statue to be more adult-like thus resulting in her being expressionless.
When Youto brings Tsukiko home, Tsukushi confronts him about her sister. All throughout this episode, she believes that Youto has a twin brother and that he’s the one together with her sister, which seemed ridiculous. She’s not so smart eh? Youto takes this chance to ask why she’s acting like that. She tells him that she wants to cut her sisterly bonds with Tsukiko because she wants to do whatever she likes. It’s a little bit reasonable right? However…
With Azusa’s help, he looks for what Tsukushi’s going to do after she graduates from high school. They discover that she’s going to study in Massachusetts, eventually leaving her little sister behind. He confronts Tsukushi and discovers that she has a sister complex. From that point onwards, her personality takes 180 degrees.
So the REAL reason for her having fights with Tsukiko is the so-called Wedding Blues. Apparently, she wants to marry her little sister to fulfil their promise of being together forever. I didn’t expect something like this to happen and it seems really stupid but oh well. She heard that Massachusetts allows same sex marriage, but her dreams are crushed when she discovers that incest is not allowed.
The cat statue gives back Tsukiko’s expressions but she chooses to give it to her sister. She thinks that her sister is often misunderstood. With her expressions, Tsukushi can show her feelings properly. She did that because she doesn’t want her childishness to become a problem again and she doesn’t want to cut the ties that bind her and Youto together.
Now, I feel too bad for Azuki Azusa. She was friend zoned by Youto although she has feelings for him. I mean, they look so good together right? Anyway, that’s not what’s so bad about Youto. During her confrontation with Tsukushi, he declares that he loves Tsukiko… as an IMOUTO! Yes, and Tsukiko hears him loud and clear. We all know that she loves him so much to a point that she’ll give up her expressions for them to be together. She even tells him that she’d rather bring Armageddon than to have Youto as her brother. As I’ve said in my previous post, Youto is that clichéd oblivious guy and now he’ll have to face the problems regarding his true feelings for Azuki and Tsukiko. But maybe not next week. He’s facing a much more dire problem – his house vanished! Let’s see where he is going to stay.
Overall, it’s a really great and funny episode though there are some weird developments. I wouldn’t say that it’s the best episode yet but it doesn’t disappoint with my expectations. The jokes and reactions are totally spot on! And I can’t ask for more when we are given this kind of fan service 😉
